For this photo I wanted to focus on the connotations of colors, which posed a rather hard challenge of how to incorporate a color and mood without seeming too cliché. I wanted to avoid red and blue for love and sadness because that seemed like the obvious answer to this prompt, but other colors did not have as strong of a connotation so I founded it hard to convey a solid concept. I also wanted to stay away from too many colors, or too much of one color, I wanted the photo to look subtle while still getting the point across. I believe I accomplished this with the strong colors only around the area of her mouth in this photo.

      I chose to use the color gold because gold unmistakably represents fortune and wealth. The glitter is to represent glamour and fame. The subject wants a glamourous, wealthy lifestyle which I showcased with the gold glitter on the tongue. I wanted to take the saying ‘hungry for wealth’ literally and put the glitter (representing the wealth and fame she desires) on her tongue; this was a stronger photo than her possible holding the glitter or something similar because, although that would make sense in the context of the concept, its boring, its been done. I wanted to do something memorable, that people would ask ‘why?’ and I feel like a glittery tongue accomplishes just that.

     This, unfortunately, was a very difficult photo to shoot. For me as the photographer it was a simple studio shot, however, my model had the awful job of swallowing glitter for a little and the glitter seemed to go everywhere as you can see its all over her teeth in the unedited pictures. Although this was a very cool and exciting concept to shoot, I think I’ll move on from shooting with glitter.
