For this piece I wanted to showcase my darker creepier tendencies with my photography. At first glance, this photo is dark and gloomy, which is my own way of drawing attention to my work. The deeper meaning or story, per say, behind the photo is then revealed when pondered more. The darker background, and the creepy doll-like clothes set the mood, but the strings, facial expression, and makeup are props used, not to add to the mood, but to tell the story of this young girl.

     She is a synecdoche for many teenagers in the world who have controlling parents. The strings are to show the subject as the marionette controlled by her parents. Parents, as they created their children, have a right control the actions of their kids, however, many parents take this too far and treat their kids like their own puppets. Every single move, breath, decision is controlled by their parents much like a marionette is controlled by its owner. Parents who have this style of parenting can make a child miserable and completely incapable of their own thoughts which is shown through the lifelessness of the subject.

    Low key photography is some of my favorite photography to shoot, I feel like the pictures I take with this technique always tend to be better executed photos and photos I am prouder of.
