Incomplete

Final
Unedited Final

This composition represents my interpretation of incomplete. Rather than thinking of something that is visually incomplete I wanted to explore how someone can be mentally or emotionally incomplete. I recalled numerous times when I felt as though I was empty inside, incomplete as a person. When I lost someone close to me, through a disagreement or death, I felt this way. Having your life revolve around one person and then to be completely abandoned feels as though a part of you is missing, this person or people are a part of you as much as an arm or leg is. With out a leg or arm you would be physically incomplete and with out this specific person you are just as much incomplete on the inside.
The piece depicts a teenage girl with black eyes and cracks all over her face. The reason for the subject being younger is because I see this happen a lot with teenage girls, they put all their effort in to a romantic relationship or a friendship and they lose that person and are left with nothing. The subject herself has just lost someone close to her and her unique physical appearance depicts the emptiness inside her, the black eye represents the void she is feeling from losing a person and the cracks on her face show that she is ‘falling apart’ from this loss. The darker mood and black and white filter is to show the sadness and darkness experienced when this type of loss happens to someone.
